If you've reached out to Kenco for the first time, welcome. We're glad you're here. One of the most common questions we get — especially from homeowners who haven't worked with us before — is some version of: "So… what happens now?"

That's a fair question, and we're here to make that answer clear as (slightly muddy) crystal.

This article walks you through the full Kenco Home Improvements customer journey, from your first visit all the way to job completion. We'll be honest about timelines, transparent about what drives them, and clear about why we do things the way we do.

Step 1: Visit Our Showroom

Before measurements, before quotes, before anything, we invite you to come see the products in person.

Our showroom is where the process really begins. You'll get to see, touch, and compare actual materials: shingle samples, window profiles, door styles, siding options, and more. There's no substitute for holding a product in your hands before you commit to it on your home. Our team is there to walk you through the options, answer questions, and help you think through what fits your home, your budget, and your taste.

This step isn't a sales pitch; it's a discovery conversation. And it's one of the things that sets Kenco apart as exterior design experts rather than just another contractor.

Can't make it in right away? For some projects, especially sunrooms, you don't have to wait on us. You're welcome to visit the showroom on your own timeline, independently of the site assessment scheduling process. More on that below.

Step 2: The Site Assessment

Once you have a sense of what you're after, we'll determine the best next step for your specific project. For many jobs, a few photos are all we need to get you an initial quote — no appointment necessary. If you can snap clear pictures of the area in question and send them our way, we can often put numbers together without ever having to schedule a visit first.

For more complex projects, or once you're ready to move toward approval, we'll schedule a site assessment — a visit where we see the space firsthand and take precise measurements before anything is ordered. And for larger jobs, don't be surprised if we come out twice.

There's an old saying in the trades: "Measure twice, cut once." We take that seriously. Getting the measurements exactly right before materials are committed is how we protect your investment and our work.

Site assessment availability is based on demand, so there can be a wait depending on the season. We'll always give you a realistic window when we reach out to schedule.

How long does this take? We aim to respond to all new inquiries within one business day.

Step 3: The Quote

Once we've gathered what we need, we'll prepare and deliver your written quote. Our quotes are detailed — they're not ballpark figures. We want you to know exactly what you're getting before you ever sign anything.

You'll receive your quote digitally, and you can approve it the same way. No pressure, no expiration countdown, no hard sell. Take the time you need to read it and ask questions.

How long does this take? Most quotes are delivered within a week of the site assessment or photo submission.

Step 4: Approval, Deposit, and Getting in Line

When you're ready to move forward, approving your quote and submitting your deposit officially places you in our project queue. This is an important detail: we schedule jobs in the order approvals and deposits are received. The sooner you're in, the sooner we can get to you.

Once we receive your approval, you'll get a confirmation from us that outlines exactly what comes next... no guesswork.

Step 5: Measurements and Material Ordering

For many projects, we'll follow up to confirm final measurements on-site before we place any orders. This ensures everything is spec'd correctly before materials are committed... because ordering the wrong thing doesn't just cost money, it costs time.

Once measurements are confirmed, we work with our suppliers to place your material order. This can take up to a week from the time the deposit is received.

Again, "measure twice, cut once." A rushed material order is a recipe for disaster.

Step 6: Delivery and Scheduling of Your Home Improvement

After materials ship, delivery typically takes 3 to 6 weeks, depending on the product, any customizations selected, and supplier availability. We track this on our end and will keep you informed of any changes.

Once your materials arrive and you're about two weeks out from scheduling, we'll reach out to notify you that your project is "ON DECK." We will then coordinate around your schedule as much as possible and give you advance notice so you can plan accordingly.

A Note on Craftsmanship and Why We Don't Rush

We want to be direct about something: Kenco jobs take the time they take. We don't cut corners to close out a job faster, and we don't send crews to a site before they're ready to do the work right.

Every Kenco project is handled by our own skilled craftsmen — not subcontractors, not crews we've never worked with before. These are people who take pride in what they build, and that pride shows in the finished product.

Our tagline is "Priced fair. Crafted with care." The second half of that isn't marketing language. Rather, it's a standard we hold ourselves to on every job, every time.

If you're comparing us to a company that promises a faster timeline, ask them how. The answer usually involves a tradeoff you don't want to make on your home.

A Special Note on Sunrooms and Shaderooms

Sunrooms and shaderooms are some of our most exciting — and most involved — projects, and they deserve their own honest timeline conversation.

Unlike a roof replacement or a window swap, sunrooms require custom design work. Every structure is built to fit your specific space, your aesthetic preferences, your site conditions, and your intended use. That means before a single material is ordered, we go through a design and specification process to make sure what gets built is exactly what you envisioned.

Here's the good news: you don't have to wait on the site assessment to get started. You're welcome to visit our showroom anytime: browse the options, ask questions, and begin narrowing down your vision on your own schedule. The showroom visit and the site assessment don't have to happen in sequence for sunroom projects; they can work in tandem, or you can come in well before we've had a chance to get to your property.

This adds time to the front end of the project, and that's a good thing. A sunroom is a significant investment and a permanent addition to your home. Getting the design right before breaking ground is worth every extra week it takes.

If a sunroom is on your radar, we recommend reaching out early even if you're not ready to commit yet. Getting the conversation started sooner gives us more runway to work through design details without feeling rushed.

A Quick Word on Manufacturer Warranties

If part of your reason for reaching out is a question about a warranty between you and your manufacturer, we've got you covered. Kenco Academy has a full article on how window warranties work (same process for other items, but seal failures in windows are the most common), where to find your warranty sticker, and how to submit a claim.

It's a quick read and includes everything you need to get the process started: [Understanding Warranties: Windows →]

The Bottom Line

We know waiting isn't anyone's favorite part. But the homeowners who've trusted Kenco since 1987 will tell you: the wait is worth it.

If you ever want a status update on where your project stands — materials, scheduling, anything — just reach out. We'd rather over-communicate than leave you wondering.
